Health Benefits of Omega 3

CLINICAL STUDIES

Several studies have highlighted the improvement in cardiovascular health from consuming Omega 3 oils. Several preparations are available, with varying proportions and purity of Omega 3 oils. Linseed and flaxseed based oils are found to be less effective in preventing cardiovascular problems when compared with marine Omega 3 oils. Besides cardiac arrhythmia prevention, omega 3 oils are found to be effective in brain development and in the control of arthritis pain through a mild anti inflammatory effect.

Features & Benefits of Omega 3 Oil

What are omega 3 oils?

Omega -3 fatty acids, which are found abundantly in fish oil, exert pleiotropic cardiometabolic effects with a diverse range of actions. The results of previous studies raised a lot of interest in the role of fish oil and omega -3 fatty acids in primary and secondary prevention of cardiovascular diseases. Humans cannot manufacture omega 3 and omega 6 oils, which have so much function on cells and cell biology, so much that they are considered ‘essential fatty acids’. They must be included in the diet on a daily basis.

The most common sources for these fatty acids are marine animals —mostly tuna, sardines, mackerel and salmon; and vegetables like linseed oil and flaxseed. Marine omega 3 is considered to be more potent.

1 )

As an anti inflammatory agent

Omega -3 fatty acids reduce the content of arachidonic acid (AA) in membrane phospholipids in platelets, endothelial cells, and inflammatory cells with a resultant reduced production of AA - derived pro -in flammatory mediators, includingprostaglandin (PG)-E2, thromboxane (TX)-B2, leucotriene (LT) -B4, 5 -HETE, and LT -E4.
